Partners for Place

At Lancaster County Planning, we work with a wide variety of planning partners. In addition to municipalities, authorities, and school districts, we’ve teamed up with 28 regional, countywide, and city organizations and agencies we call “Partners for Place.” They play a key role in implementing places2040, the Lancaster County comprehensive plan. The focus of that plan is on retaining the unique sense of place which contributes to our quality of life.

Many of these organizations and agencies helped us develop places2040. We asked them to participate because their work directly relates to land use, and because they had the resources to contribute to the process. Since the plan was adopted in 2018, they’ve continued to advise us on many of projects including regional comprehensive plans, growth area recalibration, simplified zoning, and several transportation initiatives.
