Connecting People, Place, & Opportunity (May 2021)

This workshop series focused on Connecting People, Place, & Opportunity. Where are the county’s job centers, where are the concentrations of workers and housing, and what are the connections between them? This series also considered how we can use the catalytic tools in places2040 to implement our goals.

 Part 1 – Jobs, Housing, and Transportation Analysis

 The purpose of this analysis was to show:

  • Where there are concentrations of jobs and housing
  • Where these concentrations coincide – and where jobs outnumber housing or vice versa
  • What the commuting patterns are
  • How the policies and tools in places2040 and other countywide plans can be implemented to improve the connections between jobs and housing

Part 2 – Making Change on the Ground

The second part of this analysis looked at several real-world examples of how transportation connections could be improved within the focus areas identified in Part 1. Examples include best practices from around Lancaster County as well as within the Mid-Atlantic region.
