Farmland is quickly becoming scarce in townships and communities where it once dominated the landscape and attracted residents because of its aesthetic and cultural value. An initiative should be developed to create more incentives for open-space and farmland preservation for communities. Development plans should be geared towards higher density and confined to central areas or along arterial roadways. It should also be possible to integrate open space within planned developments.
